Out of State Legal Representation

What if I live in a State (or my business is located in a State) other than Georgia? Will Wood & Meredith, LLP represent me?

It depends.   If  your legal matter concerns significant real property litigation (including construction litigation) filed (or proposed to be filed) in a Georgia Federal Court or in any one of Georgia's 159 counties, we would like to discuss the matter with you.   While Wood & Meredith attorneys are licensed to practice law in states other than Georgia (and frequently do practice in other states via Pro Hac Vice admissions and/or corresponding relationships with local counsel)  most of Wood & Meredith's litigation concerns the representation of corporations, partnerships, insurers, banks co-tenants and individuals who have legal issues concerning real property located in Georgia.

In this age of hyperlinked text, email, fax, telephone depositions and video conferencing, it is quite common for an individual, business officer or bank officer to make only one or two visits to Georgia for complex real estate matters.  Unless your legal matter requires extensive fact gathering (depositions, affidavits, etc.) many legal issues concerning real property rights turn on the existence or non-existence of documents, the legal import of the language contained in those documents, priority of legal interests in the land (including priority of debt instruments), intervening matters such as lis pendens filings, bankruptcy filings, and the sale of all or part of the title interests via foreclosure or tax sale.

We frequently represent out of state businesses, landowners, co-tenants and individuals regarding real estate matters located in Georgia.  The terms of our representation are primarily hourly, but we do review each case for other payment options.

If you would like to know if we can represent you, please contact us.
